Specifying and Verifying Distributed Intelligence Systems

چکیده
This paper describes rst steps towards the formal speciica-tion and veriication of Distributed Artiicial Intelligence (DAI) systems, through the use of temporal belief logics. The paper rst describes Concurrent MetateM, a programming language for DAI, and then develops a logic that may be used to reason about Concurrent MetateM systems. The utility of this logic for specifying and verifying Concurrent MetateM systems is demonstrated through a number of examples. The paper concludes with a brief discussion of the wider implications of the work, and in particular on the use of similar logics for reasoning about DAI systems in general.

متن کاملCHAPTER 10: Temporal Belief Logics for Modelling Distributed Artificial Intelligence Systems
In this article, we look at formal methods for reasoning about multi-agent systems, with particular emphasis on the twin problems of specifying and verifying such systems. We begin by critically reviewing several types of formalism, from both AI and mainstream computer science, which suggest themselves as possible candidates for the task. This review leads us to conclude that none of these form...
متن کاملSpecifying and Verifying Communications Protocols using Mixed Intuitionistic Linear Logic
In this paper we present a technique for specifying and verifying communications protocols and demonstrate this approach by specifying and verifying two of the fundamental communications protocols, namely TCP and IP, which form the basis of many distributed systems. The logical formalism used is Mixed Intuitionistic Linear Logic in order to use both commutative and noncommutative operators to m...
متن کاملA Formal Framework for Specifying and Verifying Time Warp Optimizations
Parallel and distributed systems are representative of large and complex systems that require the application of formal methods. These systems are often unreliable because implementors design and develop these systems without a complete understanding of the problem domain; in addition, the nondeterministic nature of certain parallel and distributed systems make system validation di cult if not ...
